We had a great day yesterday. We made it to Brisbane with plenty of time to spare till our 1:45 appointment. We drove 4 hours to spend only about 5 minutes signing paper work. Dave is now officially a US citizen!!! We will get his passport in a few weeks! We had a great time with Josh and Tamra...we had fun eating Krispy Kreme too. Here are a few pictures. The US doesnt have an embassy in Brisbane (what comes to Brisbane is sort of a "traveling embassy") so there wasnt any security and it was really relaxed. This was totally different from when we had to go to Sydney to the actual US embassy for Noah. Yesterday, we were in a place that was General D. MacArthur's office/headquarters so we got to walk around and see all the historic stuff while we waited. Dad would have loved it!
What's next? We will now apply for Dave's Australian passport. This is no big deal. We just need to fill out a form, pay money, and send it in.
I have been waiting till September to get my Australian citizenship because I am required to have 2 years in Australia as a permanent resident...this includes 1 year without leaving the country. Because we were in Vietnam, I thought I was not able to apply for citizenship till September. Last week, we found out that they have changed this. As long as I was with Shane during the time I was not in Australia, it can count as residency!!! This means that I can go ahead and apply now. I will have to take a citizenship test...so I will have to get studying!!! I am able to have dual citizenship and I do not have to renounce my US citizenship (many people ask me if I am giving up my US citizenship...NO WAY!)

More paperwork ahead...but it is worth it to have us all citizens of the same countries...NOW...the only this left is for Shane to get his US citizenship. How do we get Shane his US citizenship?????????????? Any ideas?
