Once a man has found God in his earthly bliss and thanked him for it, there will be plenty of opportunities for him to remind himself that these earthly pleasures are only transitory, and that it is good for him to accustom himself to the idea of eternity.
To be in Christ...means to be in the church.
It is grace to know God's commands. They release us from self-made plans and conflicts.
From Christ alone must we know what we should do.
You have granted me many blessings; now let me also accept what is hard from your hands.
I look back on the past without any self-reproach and accept the present in the same spirit.
Only the man who follows the command of Jesus single-mindedly and unresistingly lets his yoke rest upon him, finds his burden easy and, under its gentle pressure, receives the power to persevere in the right way.
All human strivings and drives are finally directed towards God and can only find their complete satisfaction in him.
